How to use ProfitPilot

ProfitPilot is a decision tool: estimate profit & margin, reverse-calculate a required selling price, and run bulk checks fast — using your own inputs. The more accurate your assumptions, the better the output.

Step 1

Choose currency + optional FX

In the app, choose a display currency. If you buy in one currency and sell in another, you can enter an exchange rate manually (no live rates).

Tip: If you don’t need conversion, leave FX empty.

Step 2

Pick a preset or go manual

Presets are convenience examples. You can override values anytime. ProfitPilot estimates depend on the fee, returns, and ad assumptions you enter.

Important: Presets are not official marketplace fee tables.

Mode

Profit mode (default)

Enter:

Selling price
Product cost + shipping + packaging/misc
Fee %, fixed fee, ads %, return rate %

Then click Calculate.

What to watch: Profit and margin are the decision KPIs. “Fees/ads” shows the bleed.

Mode

Reverse mode (target profit → required price)

Use this when you know the profit you want per order. Enter a Target profit and ProfitPilot estimates the selling price needed to hit it.

Trial: Reverse mode may be limited during the trial to prevent abuse. PRO unlocks unlimited reverse calculations.

Bulk mode (table)

Bulk is for checking many product ideas quickly. You can:

Add rows and type values into the table
Paste values (Sell, Cost, Ship, Misc) and import
Apply current fees to all rows
Run bulk calculations (profit/margin per row)
Export bulk CSV

Best practice: Use Bulk to shortlist winners, then switch to Profit mode for deeper analysis.

Insights (PRO)

Insights provide decision signals to reduce bad listings:

Break-even price
Price needed to hit a target margin
Max ads % you can afford before loss
Risk hints based on margin sensitivity

Note: These are estimates from your inputs, not guarantees.

Export helps you keep records or share a calculation:

CSV export (useful for analysis)
PDF export (print-friendly; PRO)
Share link (PRO)

Pro move: Save CSVs from Bulk mode and track your assumptions over time.

Common mistakes

Why people get wrong profit numbers

Most errors come from missing costs or unrealistic assumptions:

Forgetting packaging, labels, inserts, or handling time
Not including returns/refunds rate (even small % matters)
Underestimating ad spend or promo discounts
Using the wrong fee % (category differences)
Ignoring shipping upgrades / surcharges

Reality check: A small fee or return change can flip a “winner” into a loss.
